Taco ’bout Art: We’ll be crafting paper tacos with all of the fixings! Kids of all ages welcome – No registration required.

Learn to Make Salsa and Sangria Night

Learn from the best as Sylvia and Jenny as they teach YOU how to make your own fresh salsa and sangria!

The event will be held at the Truro Farmer’s Market, Thursday, May 23rd from 7 pm – 8:30 pm.

You will learn to make 2 types of Salsa:
– A Restaurant Style Salsa – tomato/cilantro/onion/jalapeño /lime – Fiesta Salsa – corn/black bean/avocado/tomato

.. & 3 types of Sangria:
– A classic red wine
– A cranberry white wine
– A non-alcoholic “not so sassy sangria”

Let’s Taco’ bout Business and Mentoring

Taco ‘bout Entrepreneurship: A Discussion with Regional Advisors and Funding Agencies that Support our Local Business Community

This event will be an informal session with advisors from ACOA, BDC, EDC, CBDC-NOBL, TCPEP, NSCC, Futurworx and NSBI to discuss local resources available to our business community. An open Q&A session will take place with all advisors and time will also be allocated for a brainstorm session with advisors and entrepreneurs to discuss the development of a formal business mentorship program for our region.

Location: Truro Farmers Market (Outdoor Canopy Area)
Time: 6:30pm – 8:30pm (TACO THEMED SUPPER will be provided at no cost)

Elementary School Pinata Contest

Elementary school classes from all over Truro and Colchester will be creating piñatas to be displayed at the Truro Mall from May 20th – May 25th.

The public will be voting on their favourite piñata all week long. The final voting day will be May 25th. The winning class will get a $500 cash prize to go toward a school project of their choice! The contest is sponsored By Colchester Credit Union – Thank you Credit Union!!

Losing a loved a can be painful, confusing and exhausting and sometimes it’s difficult to talk with bereavement professionals about one’s grief. It may be that local bereavement support groups are not offered, or people are unable to receive bereavement support because of scheduling conflicts. Covid-19 has forced the cancellation of many local bereavement groups.
Offered through Canadian Virtual Hospice, MyGrief.ca is a free online resource to help people work through their grief from the comfort of their own home, at their own pace. This platform provides information on many questions those who grieve frequently seek answers to.

MyGrief.ca was developed by family members who’ve “been there,” ... and a team of national and international grief experts. It covers topics such as: understanding grief, managing difficult situations, caring for yourself and making sense of intense emotions.

The content includes messaging to help users to understand that the grief they are experiencing is not uncommon. Strategies to overcome difficulties are presented and key ideas are summarized at the end of each section. MyGrief.ca also includes short video clips of 21 people sharing very personal stories of loss and healing after the death of a spouse, partner, child, parent or sibling. They offer practical advice and insights.
MyGrief.ca is not meant to replace professional counselling or other health care services, it is an online resource that complements existing services.
